Russian Pilots Set World Record For Non-stop MiG-31 Flight

The longest non-stop flight of a MiG-31BM lasted seven hours and four minutes.

The non-stop flight was carried out on April 12 2016 as part of an air force and air defense exercise of the Central Military District. Record flight departed eastern Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk region.

After almost 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) crews reached their destination i southern Russia’s Astrakhan region.

Ilyushin Il-76 tankers three times refueled record breaking MiG-31s.

According to one of the crew members this was the “longest in the entire 36-year operating history of the MiG-31BMs.”
