During a special police operation in Moldova, an illegal helicopter factory was discovered in the Moldovan Criuleni district. The helicopters were made and prepared for illegal deliveries to the former Soviet countries.
During the search, investigators discovered more than ten helicopter on the production line. All of them were at the different stages of being assembled.
The helicopters, externally identical to the Kamov Ka 26, were produced in clandestine conditions.
All helicopters were produced without the necessary production documents and permits. Also, with the parts and equipment of dubious origin and quality.
All of the people that were involved in the production and assembly process, are Moldova’s citizens. This includes the organizers and leaders of the “illegal business. Most of them are residents of the Moldova’s Transnistrian region.
According to law of the Republic of Moldova, suspects could face jail sentences from three to ten years.
