Lockheed Martin LM-100J Stole The Show At The Farnborough Airshow

Lockheed Martin’s LM-100J is a derivative of the C-130J Super Hercules, the airlifter of choice for 16 nations throughout the world. The C-130J achieved over 1.5 million flight hours since its first flight in 1996.

Through select design changes, the LM-100J will perform as a civil multi-purpose air freighter capable of rapid and efficient transport of cargo, firefighting, as well as search and rescue missions.

Lockheed Martin chief test pilot Wayne Roberts display pattern at FIA18:

The LM-100J completed 80 percent of its certification testing. Two test aircraft are currently flying while five others are on order for an undisclosed customer.

Lockheed Martin initially saw a market for about 75 LM-100Js, However, figures are expected to rise above the original projection due to the aircraft’s performance.

Civil derivative of C-130J is equipped with advanced avionics, including terrain avoidance system, head-up displays, advanced stall and wind-shear warning systems and other systems helping to accomplish demanding missions such are firefighting, search and rescue and other flying tasks.
